Founder & Principal
Pierre Vigilance, MD, MPH is an advisor, strategist, and educator, with 20 years executive level experience from non-profits, government, education, and professional service consulting.
As the George Washington University School of Public Health’s (GWSPH) first Dean for Practice, he led the applied public health efforts at the school from 2013 to July 2019 taking a “future of work” approach to his teaching and advising.
Prior to his time in academia, from 2008-2011 Dr. Vigilance was the Health Commissioner for the District of Columbia, and from 2002-2008 he served communities in Baltimore as an Assistant Health Commissioner in Baltimore City, and the Director of the Department of Health in Baltimore County. In both Baltimore and Washington, D.C., and he led local emergency response efforts related to outbreaks of SARS and H1N1 respectively.
His early career after completing medical training was spent in community non-profit work where he directed an innovative substance abuse program seated in an East Baltimore community development corporation.
He is a systems-level thinker, well-versed in human-centered design and the establishment of strategic partnerships & innovative cross-sector approaches to improve community health outcomes.
Dr. Vigilance serves on the boards of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, Millennium Alliance, Innovators Box, & Seam Social Labs.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, he earned his Medical and Public Health degrees from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
